How to get rid of brown spots?

Brown spots are caused due to the pigmentation of skin due to over exposure to sunlight. The ultraviolet rays that are present in sunlight react with the skin cells and cause dark pigmentation. These pigmentations are red in color, in the beginning but darken in color as time progresses and can turn into different shades of brown, sometimes even black. These spots are formed in the top layer of the skin and are harmless, except for heir unaesthetic appearance. They can be removed easily by many different methods. All these methods are effective; only the cost, duration and efforts vary. It is also easy to get rid of brown spots from home by using dermabration products or bleaching products. These products are marketed in various forms – creams, gels, lotions, solutions, etc. The bleaching products react with the pigmented cells and lighten their color gradually. The skin areas affected by brown spots are not removed but the color of the spots is gradually brought back to its original tone. This process can take several days to show results. The results can also be prolonged if there are many brown spots that need to be removed. In spite of the longer duration, these products are reasonably effective.

How to prevent age spots on face?

Age spots are caused because of combination of two reasons. The first reason is the over exposure of the skin to sunlight. The ultraviolet rays in the sun react with the skin and cause dark pigmentation on the skin. The formation of this pigment can depend on the amount of UV radiation that the skin surface gets. Usually, these dark pigments are prevented from formation on the skin by the melanin pigments that are present in the body. Melanin protects the skin and negated the adverse effects of UV rays. When these melanin pigments lose their effectiveness, dark spots appear. The second reason people get affected by age spots is because of degeneration of melanin pigments. As age progresses, the melanin pigments lose their effectiveness and are not able to fight of the effects of UV rays. Face, neck, shoulders and back are the most affected areas in the body when it comes to age spots. These are the areas that get maximum exposure to sunlight and so the dark spots are concentrated in these areas. Age spots are not aesthetically appealing and when they appear on the face, they compound the problem. They spoil the appearance and can lead to loss of self esteem in people.
